This month is one that is jam packed full…so much is going on.
It’s an exciting time because people everywhere are preparing for the holidays, our hunters are preparing for hunting season and our farmers are doing their fieldwork, spraying and equipment clean up. ALSO – It’s Election Day on Nov. 8th. Make sure your voice is heard and get out and VOTE! With so much to do, luckily, we gain an extra hour of sleep on Nov 6th to have the energy to do it all!
At the Marshall County Co-op, we are also busy with our propane sales and delivery, stocking up on our deer feed and stove pellets, along with making sure our shelves are stocked full of unique, practical items which makes great Christmas gifts. Puzzles, body cremes and soaps, tools, canned food items and so much more. Stop by and browse. You’re sure to leave with something
So, let’s talk in depth a little more about some of the days in November.
November 6th– Make sure you set your clocks back one hour on this day. Why do we do this? According to my research, “It saves energy.” During Daylight Saving Time, the sun sets one hour later in the evenings, so the need to use electricity for household lighting and appliances is reduced. So they say. This whole thing about changing clocks back and forth may end in 2023, so this may be the last fall we do this.
Election Day Nov 8th. Not happy with the way things are going in our state and country? Make your voice heard. Get out and support what is best for you and your family by voting on the candidate that supports your agenda
Veteran’s Day November 11. This is perhaps one of the days that every American should make note of and take the time to thank these man and women for their service to our country. Veterans Day is an important day set aside to honor and show appreciation for ALL who have served in the United States military—in wartime or peacetime, living, or deceased. Some of the local events include the American Legion Post No. 3, Moundsville, which will be holding an Open House on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the Marshall County Courthouse grounds, or at Central Elementary School, depending on the weather. There will be a luncheon at the Post Home after the ceremony for veterans and their families.
November 19th is the day when everyone becomes a kid again when Santa Claus makes his first appearance in the area! The Moundsville Christmas parade starts at 2pm and everyone will be celebrating the Christmas cheer!
Thanksgiving Day November 24. This is perhaps many people’s favorite day. A day when homecooked meals are made and families gather to give thanks for all they have. People celebrate it many ways, some don’t have local family and eat alone or with friends. Some go out to eat in a restaurant. Some people feel sad this day, mourning the loss of a loved one. But not matter your circumstances, please try to be thankful for something. The fact you woke up, the fact YOU HAVE a job, your health is good……. try to find something and enjoy the day.
Black Friday. You do it or you don’t. Most people won’t even try to fight the traffic and the crowds. Some people love the traffic and the crowds. No matter what, enjoy this day, either by shopping or just relaxing.
Small business SATURDAY. My favorite day. A day that you can spend it supporting your local small business owners. The Marshall County Co-op, along with other small businesses all over Moundsville, will be on my destination list for shopping on this day. Always support local!
Have a GREAT November and remember “One small positive thought can change your whole day”
